The fastest rider in each of these segments will be awarded 500 euros and points for the classification. The overall winner will take home 5,000 euros, the second place is awarded 3,000 euros and the third 2,000 euros. Sounds pretty good? The riders aren\u2019t too happy about it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/WoutPoels\/status\/859087546478993409<\/p>\n<p>Overtaking on descents is never a good idea, and we remember the tragic death of Wouter Weylandt all too well. It was at the 2011 Giro d\u2019Italia when the Belgian, trailing the peloton, tried to make up the time during the descent in the final parts of stage 3. He lost control of his bicycle, fell, and sadly died on the spot. And his fellow riders can\u2019t forget the day either.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-controller-wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/giroditalia?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@giroditalia<\/a> Its not that long ago that we lost our friend and college Wouter Weylandt  in a descent crash.Should this happen again?!
