They do now.&#8221; That was Sir Bradley Wiggins\u2019 commentary on his cycling retirement, which he announced on 28th December 2016, although he didn\u2019t confirm that he rode his last professional race. Britain&#8217;s first 2012 Tour de France winner and five-time Olympic champion said he had fulfilled a &#8220;childhood aspiration&#8221; of making a career out of a beloved sport. There was more than one reason to celebrate though, as Wiggins had earlier won his first Olympic bronze in the individual pursuit along with a silver in the team pursuit and became the first Briton to win three Olympic medals at same games since 1964.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_145867\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-145867\" style=\"width: 1010px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-145867\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2017\/01\/31331133.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1010\" height=\"639\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-145867\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The British team of Wiggins, Ed Clancy, Paul Manning and Geraint Thomas won gold and set a new world record at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. On 14 September 2016, a group of hackers calling themselves the \u201cFancy Bears\u201d leaked Wiggins\u2019 personal medical history, raising legitimate questions about his use of therapeutic use exemptions (TUE), which allow athletes with certain medical conditions to use substances that are banned by Wada. There are still no suggestions that either he, British Cycling or Team Sky, his former team, have broken any rules, but the controversy remains and many still give him the stink eye for it.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_145885\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-145885\" style=\"width: 1010px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-145885\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2017\/01\/211331.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1010\" height=\"699\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-145885\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Long-time friends Wiggins and Britain\u2019s Mark Cavendish pose with their trophies after winning the six-day race at \u2018t Kuipke velodrome in Ghent.
