We love cycling.\u00a0 It\u2019s inexpensive, it gets you fit, and you don\u2019t need to pay for fuel.\u00a0 None of these is true of e-bikes, so at Eurobike 2016 we\u2019ve been asking \u2013 do we really need e-bikes?<\/strong>
\n<\/p>\n

Recovering from injury<\/strong><\/h2>\n

My personal experience of recovering from a fractured hip left me wishing I had a little extra help in the saddle.\u00a0 I went from cycling 150 miles a week to 5 miles a week and my recovery was slow.\u00a0 I missed sitting in the saddle for hours at a time, and if I had to go through that again, I\u2019d be tempted by Tern\u2019s range of e-bikes.\u00a0 Just a little extra power until I regained my fitness \u2013 and they don\u2019t look bad for an e-bike\u2026<\/p>\n

Portage<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Cargo bikes are an increasingly important solution to urban congestion \u2013 if you\u2019ve got to carry weight but don\u2019t want to be stuck in traffic, why not use a bicycle?\u00a0 Heavy loads can test even the fittest of cyclists, so you should consider Yuba\u2019s Spicy Curry Electric Cargo Bike \u2013 you\u2019ll welcome the watts when you need them.<\/p>\n

Getting on?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Cyclists don\u2019t age like motorists.\u00a0 We look younger than our years because we keep the blood flowing \u2013 but when you hit 90, you may want to take it a little easier.\u00a0 Despite your respectable age, turning up to the cycle club on an electric bike isn\u2019t a good look \u2013 unless you arrive on the sexy Coboc e-bike.\u00a0 The exceptionally light frame and battery means that when it runs out of juice, you can still beat the young ones to the post-ride coffee shop.<\/p>\n

The business meeting<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I don\u2019t mind cycling to the office because there\u2019s a shower there, but you don\u2019t want to arrive at a client\u2019s office sweating and panting.\u00a0 E-bikes ensure an elegant, business-like arrival, so why not consider the Winora Radius?\u00a0 You\u2019ll still need to pedal, but the Yamaha motor provides enough power to avoid embarrassing stench.\u00a0 It\u2019s semi-foldable, so ideal for urban commutes and storage.<\/p>\n

Conclusions<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There are plenty of good reasons to ride an e-bike, and Eurobike 2016 has given us plenty to think about, but I don\u2019t think I\u2019ll be getting rid of my other bicycles just yet\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
