Stage 10 features more than 12km of climbing, with an average gradient of over 7%, which is considered difficult even for cars. Some sections edge up to 17.5% gradient \u2013 but at least the riders can console themselves with some of the most spectacular views in Grand Tour history.<\/p>\n<p>Most of Vuelta 2016 will take place in the north of Spain, hugging mountains and foraying briefly into France on Stage 14. Riders will have to wrestle four imposing peaks in a row, including La Pierre-Saint- Martin, which defined Chris Froome\u2019s Tour de France victory in 2015.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-142326\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2016\/08\/Screen-Shot-2016-08-18-at-14.27.06.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"884\" height=\"814\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2016\/08\/Screen-Shot-2016-08-18-at-14.27.06.png 884w, https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2016\/08\/Screen-Shot-2016-08-18-at-14.27.06-300x276.png 300w, https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2016\/08\/Screen-Shot-2016-08-18-at-14.27.06-768x707.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 884px) 100vw, 884px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Riders with unfinished business<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Froome is competing at the Vuelta for the 3 rd year running \u2013 but he looked tired at Rio, and stamina will determine the winner of this most gruelling of tours. The fact that Froome is competing indicates just how important this race has become. Froome told one journalist, \u201cYou could say I have unfinished business\u2026\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Contador crashed out of Le Tour and missed the Olympics, so having recovered from the bruises he may have relatively fresh legs in comparison to his biggest rivals.
