{"id":132990,"date":"2016-01-14T14:21:26","date_gmt":"2016-01-14T12:21:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.welovecycling.com\/?p=132990"},"modified":"2016-01-14T14:21:26","modified_gmt":"2016-01-14T12:21:26","slug":"team-sky-how-to-make-cycling-more-credible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.welovecycling.com\/wide\/2016\/01\/14\/team-sky-how-to-make-cycling-more-credible\/","title":{"rendered":"Team Sky: How to Make Cycling More Credible?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Dave Brailford, the general manager of Team Sky, has recently spent a lot of time considering how to improve the credibility and overall reputation of professional cycling and these are the results.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Independent physiological tests<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As you would expect, he praises Chris Froome\u2019s voluntary independent physiological testing done shortly after the Tour de France (Read more about this story <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welovecycling.com\/blog\/132321\/the-most-important-news-from-the-world-of-cycling\/\">HERE<\/a>).<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-controller-wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">As promised, I will be making the results and analysis of the independent testing I did after <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/TDF2015?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#TDF2015<\/a> available to the public.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Chris Froome (@chrisfroome) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chrisfroome\/status\/662956987324346369?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 7, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async data-src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>\u201cChris as a rider and we, as a team, get challenged with this whole data release quite a lot, more than any other team. I think everyone recognised that, regardless of the data, it was a step in the right direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brailsford hopes Froome\u2019s actions will inspire more riders and possibly even teams to do the same as often as possible.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Mandatory data release<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Besides the independent data the teams should, according to Brailsford, also release the physiological data and he would very much like the UCI to take charge of this.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2016\/01\/1930794_10153986615734873_684727277348824671_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-132991\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2016\/01\/1930794_10153986615734873_684727277348824671_n-600x450.jpg\" alt=\"Dave Brailsford got his own set of ideas.\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWouldn\u2019t it be better if the UCI took the lead and said, \u2018you know what, all of you should release this data, in this format, at this moment in time, so there\u2019s no \u2018will they won\u2019t they\u2019, it\u2019s all sorted before the season starts, everybody knows what\u2019s expected,\u2019 and off we go and deliver it across all teams?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Independent anti-doping officers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Brailsford\u2019s final suggestion is to make anti-doping officers live with the professional teams during big races. They would rotate after a certain amount of time to ensure their impartiality.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-132992\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2016\/01\/1003602_10154010100594873_8569425334275053659_n-600x450.jpg\" alt=\"Chris Froome has extended his contract with Team Sky to the end of 2018.\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf someone\u2019s cheating\u2026 they\u2019d have to be doing it somewhere, sometime, and if you lived here 100% of the time you\u2019d find out.
