Behold, the world\u2019s worst cycle lanes.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>The<\/strong> <strong>Psyclopath, Montreal<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-131664\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2015\/10\/montreal.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In Montreal\u2019s Parc des Marchand de Bois is exactly what would happen if a nine-year-old with a crayon designed a cycle path. Amazingly, it\u2019s the only lane on this page that\u2019s actually a joke.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-131665\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2015\/10\/montreal.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"514\" height=\"213\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Gutter, Vancouver<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Vancouver\u2019s Knight Street Bridge over the Fraser River has been branded Canada\u2019s most dangerous road, and not just for cyclists. At least part of the city\u2019s cyclists can avoid this gutter lane.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Slalom, Belfast<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A fine example of Northern Ireland\u2019s cycleways comes at the entrance to Belfast\u2019s docks, where nobody is quite sure what came first; the signs &#8211; and tree &#8211; or the cycle lane. It\u2019s an official section of the National Cycle Network.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-131669 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2015\/10\/belfast.png\" alt=\"Photo: Warrington Cycle Campaign\" width=\"580\" height=\"297\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Take The Hint, Bucarest<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>People don\u2019t cycle much in Bucarest.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-131670 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2015\/10\/takethehint-600x421.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Stuff Dutch People Like\" width=\"600\" height=\"421\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Challenge, Volendam<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Finally, a cycle lane that begs to be taken on. Squeezed onto the edge of a canal in Volendam, Holland, this is the famous stretch of bike path that infamous French high-wire artist Philippe Petit used to hone his skills, before attempting the daring walk that has been Hollywooded in the film The Walk.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-131671 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2015\/10\/volendam.jpeg\" alt=\"Photo: Stuff Dutch People Like\" width=\"219\" height=\"321\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yes, that\u2019s rubbish, but it\u2019s likely this path is too. Though little evidence is available, word is the white bikes were painted by a humorous soul and have since been removed.\u00a0No figures documenting how many cyclists completed the ride have been released.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Game Of Chicken, London<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Here, on Tavistock Place in Camden, London, town planners support local A&amp;E departments by directing cyclists into head-on collisions.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-131672\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2015\/10\/gameofchicken-600x375.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>The What? Essex<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This mind-boggling example of a cycle path is brought to you by the Essex County Council.\u00a0In an insane bid to create the safest possible environment for pedestrians in Harlow, cyclists are ordered to dismount seven times in 380 yards.\u00a0To date no cyclist has managed the feat, but we hear cyclocross legend Sven Nys is looking forward to his go.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-131673 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2015\/10\/TheWhat.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Warrington Cycle Campaign\" width=\"480\" height=\"494\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Viewing Point, Suffolk<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>For the natural end of a ride is not always clear. On Stowupland Road in Suffolk, UK, that tricky decision has been made simpler by this cycle path. It offers a perfect opportunity to take a sip, drink in the drone from the motorway and wonder what it\u2019s like on the other side of the bridge.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-131674\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2015\/10\/viewingpoint-600x384.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"384\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Common sense has prevailed since this shot was taken and you can now turn left, cross the road and continue cycling across the bridge to the new world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"normal\"><strong>Do you know any ridiculous cycling lanes in your city?
