It\u2019s called SP Resort &amp; Spa, and it\u2019s located in his hometown of \u017dilina, Slovakia. Curious about what an architectural monument to a three-time world champion looks like? We went to see it for ourselves.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can\u2019t miss the place \u2013 even the road leading to the hotel is officially named \u201cWorld Champion Street.\u201d Subtle, right? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sp-resort.sk\/\">SP Resort<\/a> is situated in the village of Z\u00e1vodie, just 2 kilometres from \u017dilina\u2019s historic centre. The hotel boasts air-conditioned rooms, a restaurant with a sunny terrace offering views of \u017dilina, the Mal\u00e1 and Ve\u013ek\u00e1 Fatra mountains, a caf\u00e9, a wellness centre, massage services, a fitness centre, and an impressive museum.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hotel itself? Think a mix of American and neoclassical vibes. Inside, it\u2019s modern, clean, and cosy. Above the reception desk, you\u2019ll find clocks showing the current time in Richmond, Doha, and Bergen \u2013 the cities where Peter clinched his world championship titles. Nearby, gleaming gold medals from 2015, 2016, and 2017 are proudly displayed in a spotlighted case. Classy and ridiculous at the same time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And then there\u2019s the slogan: \u201cWhy so serious?\u201d \u2013 a famous line from a film Peter claimed as his own that has become his trademark. While we didn\u2019t run into Peter himself (he lives in Monaco, after all), we did catch glimpses of his older brother Juraj, also a former professional cyclist, who manages the hotel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each room is named after a milestone from Peter\u2019s career, significant races or cycling disciplines. You can choose to stay in California, Roubaix, Flanders, MTB, Gravel, Tour, Slovakia, Switzerland, Quebec, Australia, Vuelta or Giro. Every room is themed and filled with design elements and memorabilia celebrating Peter\u2019s life and achievements.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For those eager to learn more about Peter\u2019s accomplishments, the hotel offers a 300-square-meter exhibition hall for just \u20ac5. It\u2019s packed with trophies, medals, jerseys, and bikes from his most famous races. For a museum dedicated to a living person, the scale is almost over the top \u2013 but hey, Peter Sagan never did things halfway. The exhibit is a celebration of talent, bravery, adventure, and life on two wheels.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The one downside? The beige carpeting in most rooms. If you\u2019re here as a regular guest bouncing between the restaurant and the wellness centre, you\u2019ll be fine. But if, like us, you\u2019re testing the famed <a href=\"https:\/\/okoeverywhere.com\/oko-trails\/\">OKO Everywhere trails<\/a> in the muddy hills surrounding the hotel, you might have a problem.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The local soil is heavy with clay, and after a week of rain, the trails turned into a mudslide that clung to our bikes, clothes, and shoes. Returning to the hotel each evening, we looked like we\u2019d just survived a mud wrestling match. Despite our best efforts to keep the mess contained, we inevitably left brown footprints everywhere. The staff, however, didn\u2019t bat an eye \u2013 even when our mud-caked group crossed paths with wedding guests dressed to the nines. It\u2019s clear the hotel is cyclist-friendly, though I imagine it took a pressure washer to clean up after us.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SP Resort &amp; Spa is a hotel built by a cyclist for cyclists. If you\u2019re looking for a unique gift for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welovecycling.com\/wide\/2020\/09\/08\/the-story-of-the-skoda-green-jersey-and-the-legend-of-peter-sagan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Peter Sagan<\/a> fan or cycling enthusiast, book them a stay in \u017dilina. They\u2019ll love it.
