Jedine\u010dn\u00fa v charaktere, smeruj\u00facu k vytvoreniu nov\u00e9ho kultu &#8211; legendy v hist\u00f3rii. Neb\u00e1li sa vyst\u00fapi\u0165 z rady, postavi\u0165 sa trad\u00edcii, alebo len jednoducho pre\u017e\u00edva\u0165 \u017eivot s neopakovate\u013en\u00fdm \u0161t\u00fdlom. S\u00fa to t\u00edto nonkonformn\u00ed jedinci, ktor\u00ed v na\u0161ej spolo\u010dnosti in\u0161piruj\u00fa, stimuluj\u00fa alebo z\u00edskavaj\u00fa pozornos\u0165 in\u00fdch. Ani vo svete cyklistiky to nie je in\u00e9. V tomto \u0161porte, kde s\u00fa v nejednom pretek\u00e1rovi v nemalej miere zast\u00fapen\u00e9 prvky odvahy, bl\u00e1znivosti a vo v\u0161eobecnosti radik\u00e1lnej\u0161ie charaktery, nie je n\u00fadza o zauj\u00edmav\u00e9 pr\u00edbehy. Jeho zap\u00e1lenos\u0165 do cyklistiky bola nepochybn\u00e1, ale len m\u00e1lokto vedel, \u017ee prekra\u010dovala hranice samotn\u00e9ho \u0161portu. S vyu\u017eit\u00edm svojho vern\u00e9ho dvojkolesov\u00e9ho priate\u013ea pren\u00e1\u0161al spr\u00e1vy a dokumenty medzi skupinou Talianskeho odporu. Okrem toho poskytol pr\u00edstre\u0161ie \u017eidovskej rodine v jeho pivnici a v kone\u010dnom d\u00f4sledku im zachr\u00e1nil \u017eivoty. Do dne\u0161n\u00e9ho d\u0148a je jedinou \u017eenou, ktor\u00e1 sa ofici\u00e1lne z\u00fa\u010dastnila mu\u017eskej Grand Tour. To sa jej podarilo po\u010das \u00e9ry, kedy jednotliv\u00e9 etapy presahovali d\u013a\u017eku 400 km. Pretekanie s elitn\u00fdmi mu\u017esk\u00fdmi pretek\u00e1rmi v danej dobe sa v jej pr\u00edpade najviac sp\u00e1ja s \u00fa\u010das\u0165ou na Gire v roku 1942. Po\u010das \u00f4smej etapy si <strong>privodila nepr\u00edjemn\u00fd p\u00e1d<\/strong>, ale aj napriek zlomen\u00fdm riadidl\u00e1m sa nevzdala svojej t\u00fa\u017eby. Pomocou vynaliezavosti jej vlastnej sa ihne\u010f chopila ne\u010falekej metly, ktor\u00fa pou\u017eila ako spojovac\u00ed \u010dl\u00e1nok a rie\u0161enie pri spojazdnen\u00ed svojho bicykla. Napriek tomu, \u017ee stratila nieko\u013eko hod\u00edn, neprestajne pokra\u010dovala v pretekoch. T\u00e1to skuto\u010dnos\u0165 ale bola pozna\u010den\u00e1 aj n\u00e1slednou cestou od \u00fapadku k vyk\u00fapeniu, ktor\u00e9 nakoniec vy\u00fastili do momentu, kedy sa z neho stala ved\u00faca osobnos\u0165 hnutia sna\u017eiaceho sa o\u010disti\u0165 cyklistiku.<\/p>\n<p>Jeden z pam\u00e4tn\u00fdch momentov, ktor\u00fd uv\u00e1dza, je stretnutie sa s Lancom Armstrongom v hotelovej izbe po\u010das Vuelty v roku 1998. T\u00e1to sk\u00fasen\u00e1 spisovate\u013eka a ultramarat\u00f3nky\u0148a bola vychov\u00e1van\u00e1 v r\u00e1mci n\u00e1bo\u017eensk\u00e9ho kultu, ktor\u00e9mu dok\u00e1zala unikn\u00fa\u0165 ako mlad\u00e1 \u017eena. Vo veku 95 rokov, je Ruiz st\u00e1le zn\u00e1my t\u00fdm, \u017ee ho neuvid\u00edte bez cigarety v ruke a s poldecom vodky, zatia\u013e \u010do nad\u0161en\u00fdm posluch\u00e1\u010dom rozpr\u00e1va jeho pr\u00edbehy zo \u017eivota (nielen) cyklistu. Pr\u00edbeh, ktor\u00fd je hodn\u00fd ve\u013ekolep\u00e9ho filmu sa sklad\u00e1 z tak\u00fdch momentov, ak\u00fdm je \u00fatek z teroru Franca a nesmiernej chudoby v \u0160panielsku, s vyvrcholen\u00edm vo ve\u013ekolepej cyklistickej kari\u00e9re.
