Vad hittade de? Det finns en intressant mening i Treks rapport: &#8221;Om du cyklar cirka 69 mil som du annars skulle ha k\u00f6rt, har du sparat kolekvivalenten som kr\u00e4vdes f\u00f6r att tillverka din cykel.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Detta p\u00e5st\u00e5ende \u00e4r trov\u00e4rdigt men det v\u00e4cker fr\u00e5gan om varf\u00f6r en cykel producerar s\u00e5 mycket koldioxidutsl\u00e4pp? Trek <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclist.co.uk\/in-depth\/78\/trek-factory-visit\">tillverkar cirka 1,5 miljoner cyklar<\/a> per \u00e5r. En viktig h\u00e4ndelse var ett \u00f6ppet brev undertecknat av 15 cykelf\u00f6retag och sl\u00e4ppt strax f\u00f6re COP26. D\u00e4r f\u00f6rbinder sig undertecknarna att visa sina utsl\u00e4pp av v\u00e4xthusgaser fr\u00e5n sina \u00e4gda eller kontrollerade k\u00e4llor och fr\u00e5n externa k\u00e4llor, s\u00e5som energileverant\u00f6rer, och att minska sina koldioxidutsl\u00e4pp med 55 procent till 2030.<\/p>\n<p>Id\u00e9n till brevet kom fr\u00e5n Zoom-diskussioner som Shift Cycling Culture h\u00f6ll med industrins intressenter med b\u00f6rjan i december 2020. &#8221;Vi ville bara f\u00e5 ett litet riktm\u00e4rke f\u00f6r var m\u00e4nniskor befann sig,&#8221; sa Jane Dennyson, en chef p\u00e5 Shift Cycling Culture, till BikeRadar . &#8221;Vi var mycket medvetna om att det finns en enorm industri bakom cykling och allt som h\u00f6r till som inte riktigt adresserade sin negativa inverkan just d\u00e5. S\u00e5 vi ville ta reda p\u00e5 hur vi kunde inspirera till f\u00f6r\u00e4ndring p\u00e5 det h\u00e4r omr\u00e5det.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dessa samtal ledde till samtal varannan m\u00e5nad med verkst\u00e4llande direkt\u00f6rer fr\u00e5n f\u00f6retag som Rapha, Schwalbe, Assos, Brompton och Riese &amp; M\u00fcller f\u00f6r att underl\u00e4tta diskussioner om \u00e5tg\u00e4rder f\u00f6r att bek\u00e4mpa klimatf\u00f6r\u00e4ndringar och f\u00f6r att betona dess betydelse f\u00f6r n\u00e4ringslivet. Dennyson s\u00e4ger att gruppen ocks\u00e5 bj\u00f6d in en investmentbankir till ett av m\u00f6tena. Han sa till dem: &#8221;Vi tittar inte p\u00e5 f\u00f6retag som inte tar upp h\u00e5llbarhet eftersom det \u00e4r en f\u00f6r stor risk om de inte blickar fram\u00e5t och t\u00e4nker p\u00e5 hur framtiden ser ut f\u00f6r dem.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Samtalen ledde till slutsatsen att f\u00f6r att bek\u00e4mpa klimatf\u00f6r\u00e4ndringarna m\u00e5ste \u00e5tg\u00e4rder vidtas mot cykelindustrins leveranskedjor. &#8221;I grund och botten kommer 95 procent av den negativa effekten fr\u00e5n deras organisationer fr\u00e5n leveranskedjan,&#8221; sa Dennyson. &#8221;S\u00e5 f\u00f6r att de verkligen ska kunna ta itu med [milj\u00f6-]p\u00e5verkan m\u00e5ste vi f\u00f6r\u00e4ndra deras leveranskedja.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hon sa att sedan brevet offentliggjordes har ytterligare 30 f\u00f6retag skrivit under det och \u00e5tagit sig att minska utsl\u00e4ppen relaterade till produktion, skapa produkter som h\u00e5ller l\u00e4ngre, samarbeta med konsumenter f\u00f6r att f\u00f6rl\u00e4nga produkternas livsl\u00e4ngd och utveckla ett slutet system f\u00f6r att \u00e5tervinna material.
