Dr. John Middleton, visepresident for det britiske fakultetet for folkehelse (FPH), sier at &laquo;flere og flere mennesker sliter med \u00e5 f\u00e5 tid til minimum 30 minutters regelmessig trening, fem dager i uken.\u00bb Middleton forteller videre at aktiv transport er den ideelle l\u00f8sningen p\u00e5 utfordringen vi st\u00e5r ovenfor.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If\u00f8lge professor Mark Pereira ved Universitetet i Minnesota, &laquo;jo mer man sykler &#8211; uansett om det er trening eller transport &#8211; jo lavere er sannsynligheten for \u00e5 f\u00e5 livsstilsykdommer som fedme, hypertensjon og h\u00f8yt kolesterol.&raquo; Pereiras <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sph.umn.edu\/news\/cycling-saves-lives-money-mn\/\">forskning<\/a> tyder p\u00e5 at generell fysisk aktivitet er bra for helsen. Et annet forslag er at boligomr\u00e5der skal ha 30 km \/ t i fartsgrense. Det fremhever ogs\u00e5 viktigheten av sykkelstier som er godt merket og godt utformet, samt bedre skille mellom sykkel og bilvei. N\u00e5r det er sagt, er markerte sykkelbaner ikke alltid nok til \u00e5 f\u00e5 folk til \u00e5 f\u00f8le seg trygge nok n\u00e5r de sykler. Fysisk adskillelse fra trafikken er viktige for \u00e5 unng\u00e5 konflikter mellom syklister og motorkj\u00f8ret\u00f8yer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For \u00e5 forbedre infrastruktur enda mer er det ogs\u00e5 viktig \u00e5 fremme sykling p\u00e5 andre m\u00e5ter. FPH krever mer sykkeltrening for befolkningen og for skolene. I tillegg til at de vil at barn skal bli oppmuntret til \u00e5 l\u00e6re \u00e5 sykle i ung alder. \u00a0Dette for at barna skal knytte et b\u00e5nd til sykling tidlig, og forh\u00e5pentligvis benytte denne transportformen videre i livet. FPH kommer ogs\u00e5 med et forslag om at \u00absykle til jobben\u00bb burde bli en norm innenfor arbeidssektoren. Som Dr. Middleton sier det \u00abvil vi at alle skal f\u00e5 muligheten til \u00e5 f\u00f8le hvor lett, morsomt og helsemessig gevinst syklingen gir.
