Maar niet een was er zo lang als de strook die in Gelderland wordt aangelegd. De nieuwe fietssnelweg van 1,7 kilometer moet de reistijd verkorten tussen Wageningen en Arnhem, in het oosten van Nederland. Bovendien moet de weg het hele jaar rond comfortabel en toegankelijk zijn.<\/strong><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Het fietspad gaat door De Jufferswaard, een natuurgebied van 31 hectare in de uiterwaarden van de Nederrijn. Daarmee ontstaat waarschijnlijk een van de mooiste verwarmde fietspaden van Europa. De strook wordt in wintertijd verwarmd met restwarmte uit het productieproces van papierfabriek Parenco, die in de regio voorziet in heel wat werkgelegenheid.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_537\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-537\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/11\/2018\/04\/Wageningen-Station.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-537\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/11\/2018\/04\/Wageningen-Station.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/11\/2018\/04\/Wageningen-Station.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/11\/2018\/04\/Wageningen-Station-300x176.jpg 300w, https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/11\/2018\/04\/Wageningen-Station-768x450.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-537\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wageningen Station<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cDit pad is hoofdzakelijk bedoeld voor forenzen\u201d, zegt woordvoerster Petra Borsboom van de provincie Gelderland. \u201cHet is een prachtig beschermd natuurgebied en dat is de reden waarom we het op deze manier aanpakken. We willen gladheid op die plek niet met zout bestrijden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sommige lokale bewoners zijn bang dat de warmte van het fietspad kikkers aantrekt. Die zouden fietsers in gevaar kunnen brengen en tevens zelf kwetsbaar zijn. Om die reden gaat de provincie Gelderland in de gaten houden wat voor impact het fietspad heeft op de fauna in het natuurgebied. Samengevat ziet het project er veelbelovend uit en heeft het wereldwijd veel reacties losgemaakt. Mogelijk ligt er nog eentje in China, dat weten we niet zeker\u201d, voegt Petra Borsboom eraan toe. \u201cWe willen met bedrijven samenwerken en nieuwe technologie\u00ebn mogelijk maken.
