Ik pak mijn spullen uit mijn auto en zet mijn fiets in elkaar. Vanaf terrasjes kijken toeristen en inwoners toe. Niet-wielrenners. De leegheid van die levens schokt me.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Op donderdag 3 september eindigt de zesde etappe van de Tour de France 2020 op de Mont Aigoual. Een berg die bij wielerliefhebbers overal ter wereld, maar vooral in Nederland, beroemd is geworden door het boek \u201cDe Renner\u201d (1978) van Tim Krabb\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>De aankomst van de Tour de France op de Mont Aigoual inspireerde oud-prof Laurens ten Dam tot een eerbetoon aan het boek. Hij bezocht de Cevennen en sprak met renners en journalisten om te ontdekken waarom dit boek door zoveel liefhebbers wordt beschouwd als het beste boek ooit geschreven over de wielersport.<\/p>\n<p>Laurens ten Dam: \u201cIedere Nederlander die een beetje van wielrennen houdt, kent de eerste vijf zinnen van dit boek. Dit boek verdient een eerbetoon.
