Ze begint aan haar missie op zaterdag 25 augustus, een paar uur voordat de ploegentijdrit begint. Er liggen 3.250 kilometer, 46 bergtoppen en vijf aankomsten bergop op haar te wachten. Hoe zwaar het ook klinkt, ze is ervan overtuigd dat haar uitdaging gaat slagen.<\/strong><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>RAD Monika gaf haar baan als managementconsultant op om zich op haar passie, het wielrennen, te storten. De 32-jarige verkaste van Duitsland naar Mallorca. Daar traint ze elke dag. Als onderdeel van haar voorbereiding op de Vuelta fietste ze van haar nieuwe thuisadres naar M\u00fcnchen. Die rit, een slordige 1.100 kilometer lang, maakte ze binnen vijf dagen. Onderweg droeg ze haar Superwoman-outfit en bezocht ze kinderziekenhuizen langs de route.
