Downhill-entusiasterne ville k\u00f8re st\u00e6rkere, og det er derfor, vi har s\u00e5dan en teknologi. Kampene er overst\u00e5et og b\u00e5de r\u00f8dder, sten, klipper og landinger er blevet en del af sporten. Nu kan vi f\u00e5 fordel af de nye teknologier selv p\u00e5 dagsture med k\u00e6resten. Men det historie. Lockout-mekanismer g\u00f8r det muligt at sl\u00e5 full suspension fra, s\u00e5 den bliver mere fast. N\u00e5r du har l\u00e5st systemet opf\u00f8rer cyklen sig n\u00f8jagtig som en hard tail med alle de fordele, der h\u00f8rer med. I \u00f8jeblikket er der alts\u00e5 ikke behov for hard tails og ikke mange argumenter for dem. Tvivlere vil m\u00e5ske n\u00e6vne den lidt h\u00f8jere v\u00e6gt. De mindede om motocross-cykler, hvor motoren var blevet stj\u00e5let. Men alle var ligeglade, for de var alene designet til downhill-spor. V\u00e6gten var virkelig forf\u00e6rdelig. Du skulle k\u00e6mpe med mindst 20 kg. Maskine, for at f\u00e5 den p\u00e5 sporet. De tidlige mastodonter med st\u00e5l-suspension blev erstattet af cykler med slankere stel. Der g\u00f8r ondt, g\u00f8r det ikke? G\u00f8r det nu igen, og sp\u00e6nd dine l\u00e5r, n\u00e5r du lander. Bedre? Hvis det virker for menneskets anatomi, hvorfor skulle det s\u00e5 ikke inden for cykling? Der er derfor, vi har st\u00f8dd\u00e6mpning overalt omkring os \u2013 vi har det i biler, motorcykler, lastbiler og senest ogs\u00e5 i cykler. Ligesom i biler, s\u00e5 bliver st\u00f8dd\u00e6mpning i cykelindustrien brugt til at g\u00f8re din tur mere komfortabel og sikker. Med hard tail mister du ikke energien i hurtige volde, men det er kun en fordel, s\u00e5 l\u00e6nge du k\u00f8rer p\u00e5 en j\u00e6vn overflade. Selv de mindste bump f\u00e5r dit baghjul til at hoppe, hvilket betyder, at du mister kontrol over styringen og hastigheden p\u00e5 \u00e9n gang. St\u00f8dd\u00e6mpede cykler forbedrer tr\u00e6kkraften og sikkerheden, hj\u00e6lper dig med at holde begge jord i kontakt med underlaget, selv mens du bremser \u2013 alts\u00e5 n\u00e5r det er allervigtigst at have din cykel under kontrol.
