Peter Sagan Nearly Taken Out by a Dog and Other Cool News from the World of Cycling

By Martin Mrazek

Another Monday is here and our news from the world of cycling with it! So, what did you miss?

Sagan vs. dog

You don’t see a world champion’s time trial ruined by an elderly dog walker very often, but that is exactly what happened at the Tirreno-Adriatico. Peter Sagan was roughly in one third of the stage when a woman and her dog slowly walked across a zebra crossing as if there was no bike race happening at all.

He luckily managed to avoid them by riding through a gap in the raised curb. After returning onto the track Sagan turned to shake his head at the woman before continuing with his ride. The Italian didn’t seem to care at all, though. The Slovak took to Twitter and reminded everyone that it is essential to respect the safety of riders.

Pizza for everybody

We hope Sagan got a prosciutto at least!

How to decide if your friend is a true friend? This might be the answer.

Milano-San Remo

The 108th edition of the prestigious race came into a thrilling conclusion. Michal Kwiatkowski (Team Sky) beat Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe) by half a wheel, with Julian Alaphilippe (Quick-Step Floors) finishing right behind them.

“I truly believe Sagan is beatable, maybe many in the bunch think that he’s from another planet, that’s for sure. I know that I’m able to follow him, like on the Poggio today. And when we talk about tactics before the race, we don’t think about who’s going to follow when Sagan goes, we just know that I can follow him. In the junior ranks, we were at a very similar level, and so I had many more chances to race with him than any of the other guys. I truly believe that he is beatable. You just have to believe in that,” said Kwiatkowski after the race.
